Yes Reed is under contract since late 2003.He ran full time ASA series last year finshed 5th in points he almost won championship. He also was rookie of the year in ASA in 2003 when Ganassi signed him.Last year while running full time ASA he also ran 3 ARCA races and won one of them at Michigan and he also started 5 Busch races and had one top five and 3 top tens. He is very talented i heard that Ford is who put him with Ganassi not sure if thats true. Yea i think Ward needs to be in a car and that may be a good fit for a few years in the 6 car.I agree Jamie they change that name on car might bring some more young talent.Yea Adam i would like to see Park get a ride again and try it in Cup i always liked him.But i still think the Trucks have become the series to watch. After this weeks wrecks in Busch and Cup do you all think Nascar will change anything for the restrictor plate races.I real think they should maybe take spoiler off the car and let them have at it lol.

I always enjoyed watching races in hoping figure out who will be the next cup star. But man I've giving up that after the last 5 years. I remember when Hendrick hired Jimmie Johnson I said "WHAT" Jimmie was more famous for smacking the wall at Watkins Glen then winning races. The list is loaded with guys like this. I mean Kurt Busch (one year of truck racing), Jamie McMurray (had even won a Busch race), Kasey Kahne (What won a few USAC races), Carl Edwards (If I was Schrader's cousin would I be running cup?), Ryan Newman (At least he won more then Kahne, what got a few ARCA wins), Casey Mears (Not even Rick's kid), Even Elliott Sadler I'm sure a few of you said umm they got the wrong Sadler. However all these guys are working out. Are the cars so good that drivers don't need to know how the chassis works anymore? I think back to when I watched a lot of ASA saying how come Senneker,Eddy, St Amant, Garvey why aren't these guys getting rides. I mean Larry Phillips should be a cup superstar, he was beating all the stars in cup on the short tracks each week. So when Hendrick or Roush hires some 14 year old kid I just going figure I'm going see him in cup in four years. These guys don't seem to be making a mistake. I'm a Yankee by birth and when Geoff (not Geoffrey) Bodine went cup racing at least he won about 500 modified features.
I've learned I'm not as smart as I thought I was., lol

Darn forgot Jr. Thought I heard he only one like 4 late model races before he got the Busch ride. Would he have gotten it if he wasn't a Earnhardt. Don't get me wrong I do like Jr. As I do most of the drivers.
Thanks, David Lanne EVR_99

If only winning a handful of races was the only thing that scouts looked for then why didn't the other Earnhardt, Kerry make it?
Which leads me to believe that I (like David) have been looking at the wrong prerequisites for a good driver. Today hiring Cup drivers is more of a business than when a driver "made the big time" on pure talent. I think today's cup drivers can take drivers with a little less spectacular driving skills and make them superstars based on their other characteristics. Today more races are won by great teams than by great drivers. It takes a great crew of guys to win a race. That's why some of the newer drivers perform so well and so poorly at the same time. *edited out the part about JJohnson @ Tally*
Brendan Gaughn... now put him in a ride like Carl Edwards got and you will see some good driving. He didn't do well at Penske because they didn't really give his team enough time to gel and work with good equipment. I believe they got most of the rejects and hand-me-downs from the other Penske teams. In fact his team didn't really perform that good until the last quarter of 2004. I think if they would've kept him in that ride a couple more years, Brendan would be up there with Kurt, Jimmie, Carl, etc...
One thing I do know.... When I watch the Truck Races... I really enjoy the racing action! I'm looking forward to Mark and a few other veterans to move over to Trucks. I think they will see how much fun it is to run those things and how the racing is very similar to what it "used to be" when driving talent won races.
Just stating opinions of course... We all know that Opinions are neither right nor wrong... they're just opinions. ;D

Well there is the move in Nascar not to be known as the good ole boy sport aka Redneck sport. And im a redneck to me it just means i come from hard working southern roots or as Charlie Daniels says a Common Man.And sponsors wanting well spoken good looking people driving for them to represent them. And know teams signing kids running dirt and ashpalt to long term contracts. And know the drive for deversity what a joke they should earn those rides because there good not because there a minority because Rev Jackson and others think they should have a peice of Nascar like all other sports, and im not a racist.I knew Late Model drivers that we ran with that did race a few Arca and Busch and even Cup races back in 70s and 80s.And some would tell ya i make more money running dirt than i would in Arca and Busch and couldnt afford to run Cup.So they never made full time moves to Ashpalt know a day they just hand those good rides out like water you use to have to earn them rides. But it's a young mans game is what they want they have it.And it use to be like the saturday night shows one car one owner one driver, know you have 5 car teams with the norm what 3 car teams.I wish it was still that way because you wouldnt here that Busch was told to let Martin lead a lap for bouns points. And know a days there are no privaters its all big money and drivers cant say anything with fear of points being took away lol.If guys in a wreck dont shove mic in his face if you dont want to hear it. I was raised at dirt tracks i saw and heard things i didnt agree with but i understood there point when there in the heat of the moment. I hope Nascars new fans are as hard core devoted as the fans there not seeming to care about anymore taking alot of the old tracks out.And this trying to save teams money stuff with impound rule and all other stuff, then send Busch to Mexico i just dont understand that they dont make the money Cup does so some of those teams im sure that hurt. I also think America is great and this is a sport thats all are's and should stay that way. They say around 2007 we will be watching a Nascar Chassis on the track all teams running the same stuff , whats that i enjoy seeing only american cars Ford,Chev and others that has allways been part of the sport it will be gone.To me this points change was a real messed up deal but Nascar knows what there doing making boat loads of money and moving into main stream.I for one hate the half time shows and things they have started doing before and during race use to they might talk about where a driver was from or how he got to Cup. Now they want to know who is the sexest man in Nascar and a bunch of nonsence and they say they are a family sport but they have a male enhancment drug commercials on during race with beer sponsored cars and know Hard liquior but wouldnt let a car run last year because of the sponsor RedneckJunk.com what a joke. Im glad dirt racing has changed but not as much as Cup.Hope they dont start making alot of chages in trucks and ruin the close racing where seeing know.Daivd remeber when Geoff drove the Levi Garrett yellow and white car we built a mini stock looked like that i ran it a few times before we sold it and my dad got back into Lates and Mod's.Ill see if i can find a pic of it.
