Twin A-Main Wins @ GreenBelt Speedway
HISIDE takes Twin Gold in B-Mains
[/color][/glow]
Petty and Pearson. Foyt and Andretti. Kinser and Swindell. And now, MuDtHaNg and Blackjack!!!
Giggle if ya like, but I know that nobody is laughing when of one these two gifted racers is coming up on their six. For the second straight week, Mudthang and BlackJack have both won a Twin A-Main each in MARS Late Model racing action. Last week it was a win apiece at WoW SDS and this week it was the same at the wild and wacky world of Greenbelt Raceway. It was Mudthangs' sixth title of the season and it was back-to-back wins for BlackJack. Both drivers were masters of the jump-the-bump style of racing that was neccesary at this wicked and treacherous 1/2 miler.
The MARS Freaky Fall schedule has provided a wonderful assortment of different size and style racetracks this season. But Greenbelt Raceway is in a world unto itself with huge bumps in the corners and a small one up the frontstretch. Keeping those back tires in contact with the track in the turns was a nightmare. Many fine racers fell prey to this tracks' numerous irregularities.
Inspite of the fact that there were times when you had no idea where your car was going to land, all racers drove with respect and some even performed brilliantly. Mudthang ran the fastest Hotlap of the evening with a 13.66 and BlackJack had the fastest average lap time of 13.86 in Heat #2 as well as the fastest A-Main 'TRT' at 4:37.83
EVR_Budman had 11 position advances that helped him earn a secondplace finish in both A-Mains. And, HISIDE capturedboth B-Main finals including a come-from-behind victory from his seventh starting position in B-Main #2. There was a total of 52 hardcharger points awarded thru out the night's racing which was the highest number recorded during any other Freaky Fall event.
[glow=green,2,300]HEATS[/glow]
The evenings' racing began with EVR_Mudthang driving to his ninth consecutive opening round win of the season in Heat #1 while EVR_Budman took second from his fifth starting position. Both drivers had identical Hotlaps of 13.7162. Heat #2 ended with EVR_BlackJack taking first over EVR_Perd who finished a ways back because of BlackJacks' record setting performance. EVR_Shadow32 dominated Heat #3 that saw IGGR MoJo earn a secondplace finish from his fifth starting slot. All six racers tuned their cars in the Dash 4 Cash before advancing to The Show.
[glow=green,2,300]D-Mains[/glow]
MoFo Domn8r ran away with D-Main #1 and moved on to his eighth straight Feature event of the season while EVR_Matt_F7 managed a convincing win in D-Main #2 and a spot in his sixth A-Main appearance.
[glow=green,2,300]B-Main[/glow]
HISIDE was simply flatout the class of both B-Mains as he joined IGGR Mach8 as the only racers to earn two B-Main victories on the same night this race season. In B-Main #1, HISIDE ran a smooth and consistent race from the three hole to outlast a hardcharging EVR_Mint and win by about a half second. He was even better in the second race enroute to another victory. Starting last in a seven car field, HISIDE was brilliant as he worked his way passed five cars before catching up to leader EVR_Ky on lap 12. Appearing in his first MARS event of the season, Ky finally gave up the top spot on lap 13 and HISIDE never looked back. Congrats for a great night of racing, bro...

***It is with regret that I was missing several replays from the WoW racing and A-Main #1 was one of them. Guys, piz piz, send those replays! Inquiring minds need to know!!
Starting race order for Greenbelt A-Main Twin30 #1:
1. Mudthang 2. BlackJack
3. Shadow32 4. Perd
5. Budman 6. MoJo
7. Domn8r 8. Matt_F7
As the Green Flag waved, EVR_MuDtHaNg held the first turn with BlackJack on his right and Shadow32 nestled on his rear bumper. Being on the outside Pole is like going to the Prom without a date and in less than a lap Shadow and Budman, who had started fifth, slipped under BlackJack and took second and third respectively. For five laps, Shadow held down the second spot and wouldn't allow Mudthang to get away as Budman began to make his move on 32. He passed the Boss with a sweet no-touch pass on lap 6.
The racing was clean throughout, but it gave onlookers a visual seesaw affect as one driver would ski-jump high in the turns and another would slide low. Then, they would switch positions as the racer who went low would slide high and the racer who went high would dip low. This explains why there were 19 position changes in this race alone. BlackJack and Shadow battled eachother hard during the race and exchanged spots no less than five times.
As the race progressed, Budman tried desperately to close the gap between he and Mud, but they appeared to finish the event the same distance apart as they were when Budman passed Shadow on lap six. Without laboring the point, Mud would turn late in the corners and when his car went airborn, his wheels came down straight and pointed down the track. Budman had a totally different approach as he must have been using his famous Adams set 'cuz he stayed low all the way around still held the turns. At any rate, Mudthang picked up his sith MARS Title of the season and also another Kleen Sweep award as well.
Finishing order of Greenbelt A-Main Twin20 #1:
EVR_Mudthang FL 13.71 'TRT' 4:38.13
Budman---Domn8r---Perd---Shadow32---BlackJack---MoJo---Matt_F7
Greenbelt A-Main Twin20 #2:
The second A-Main Twin30 at Greenbelt Raceway saw EVR_BlackJack put down an extraordinary performance. Starting 3rd, and inspite of battling the front row of Matt_F7 and IGGR MoJo for two laps, BlackJack not only won going away, he still ran the fastest 20 lap "TRT' ever recorded at this track with a blistering 4:37.83. Big time congrats to EVR_BlackJack, and gee thanx for the wakeup alarm and I'm sure that everyone heard it go off.
Other than BJs great job, EVR_Budman also turned in a sparkling race as well. The Budman started this A-Main way back in 7th place and charged to his 2nd secondplace Feature finish of the evening. Budman also collected 11 Hardcharger points for his efforts throughout the evenings' racing.

[glow=green,2,300]Track-Snacks[/glow]
Through it all, the racing last Monday night was clean and hardfought with the corners during a whole lot more damage than anyone's bumper did. Only seven racers qualified for this event and only 7 of the 15 drivers who participated managed to crack the 13.70s for Hotlaps.
Ok guys, I'm off to milk some more cows with the 3H kids and I'll catcha all at Ransomville. This track is alot like EVR2. Downshift and lift early and power thru the turns for best results.
